Get To Know Me

My
Story

My practice as a dietitian is shaped by 3 F’s - family, faith, and fitness.

Along with holding the title dietitian, I also am proud to be called Mom by my two kids. My role as a mom inspires me to work with other parents who are wanting to discover what “healthy” looks like for their family or who are in the thick of it with a picky eater or who want to help their child recover from an eating disorder at home. I truly believe in the power of parents, and when they are equipped with knowledge and skills, the healing and nourishment they can bring to their family is one-of-a-kind.

Secondly, I value my Christian faith and understand my faith directs me in all areas of life, including this job. The Lord calls the church to be a city on a hill which symbolizes refuge and beauty. As a member of the Christian church I live out this calling partly through my job as a dietitian. When individuals come to an appointment with me I hope they experience something different from the world around us. Our world is dirtied by cynicism and diet culture is a marker of this. I want to stand up against this cynicism. I want to be a city on a hill for you by equipping you with hope and joy through a new way of thinking about food and body.

Finally, I grew up as an athlete. More specifically, I was a competitive figure skater turned mediocre long distance runner. My time as a competitive athlete exposed me to all kinds of environmental triggers for eating disorders, including misinformation about food and my body. Athletes are unique - their sport is a huge part of their identity, and their commitment to improving their performance is next to nothing. If you are an athlete, I want to give you evidenced based research and recommendations that could ultimately change your performance.

Whether you resonate with one of these areas or not, I will always meet you where you are and promise you will feel heard and understood. Nutrition is not one-size-fits-all, and your individuality will always be considered when I make nutrition recommendations and set goals with you.
